Import, export, and backup

One of our values at Reflect is regarding data-portability. In short, your data is always yours to take wherever you want.

While we do store your data in a proprietary format (which helps us with the offline sync, encryption, etc), you can always export it into an open format (like Markdown)

Imports

We currently support imports from:

  • Roam Research (JSON)
  • Other Reflect instances (JSON)

To import data you can navigate to your Graph’s preferences (cmd ,) - and click on relevant graph in the sidebar.

⚠️
We recommend creating a new graph when importing any data. To do so, click the little β€˜plus’ icon by the Graphs header in the sidebar.

Export

We currently support exports in the following formats:

  • Reflect JSON
  • Reflect CSV
  • Markdown zip

To export data you can navigate to your Graph’s preferences (cmd ,) - and click on relevant graph in the sidebar.

Select the format you want to export as, and then click β€˜Export Reflect’.

Backups

While all your notes inside Reflect are securely synchronized to the cloud whenever you’re online, we also make daily backups to your hard-drive.

This is useful in case a natural disaster takes out our servers, or you lose your password.

Backups are automatically created every-day.
